Rafael Armas about to taste one of the wines that are still in production.

BODEGA VIÑA FRONTERA
Viña Frontera blanco
Dry white from Verijadiego Blanco grapes
El Hierro Protected Designation of Origin

What this wine tells us
A widely known, sold, and consumed wine that is the mainstay of this winery’s economy. The wine itself is not very expressive, although many like it because it is easy to drink and has a discreet flavor. The bouquet has some white fruit, hints of raisins, and alcoholic notes. On the palate, this house brand has a traditional taste, with little acidity and some tannins. It is clearly a calm and easy wine, a mirror image of this Meridian Island.

Its dancing partner
A great combination with a parrotfish stew from El Hierro.

Trivia
Manufactured in the “kingdom of the Verijadiego” (Valle del Golfo), it is a variety that is cultivated the traditional way on steep slopes as an example of “heroic” viticulture. It shows the importance of the island as a nursery for traditional Canary varieties.
