■ La Vica
Dry white from aromatic and volcanic Malvasia grapes
Gran Canaria Protected Designation of Origin
What this wine tells us
Probably one of the jewels of Mount Lentiscal, with the particular feature that it is produced from the two Canary varieties of Malvasia grape, which were planted on picón (volcanic ash) a few decades ago. Without a doubt, a very exclusive wine from a plot of La Vica country house. A Malvasia that combines the best of both varietals, acidity, and freshness, with its characteristic aroma and smoothness, well as reminiscence of fennel/anise and fine notes of tropical fruit. A wine easy to drink but, by no means, light-bodied, round and balanced.
Its dancing partner
It is a must with pâté, preferably from Canary pork.
Trivia
After working for many years in other projects and getting to know like very few Gran Canaria’s viticulture, the oenologist Luis Delfín Molina is searching for his path in this personal project. The best part about this new experience is that the vineyard is old, that he has participated in many harvests and that he knows the region of Mount Lentiscal like very almost nobody does. Just for the sake of talking to him, his wine is worth it.
