What this wine tells us
A jewel that reflects Juan Matías’s legacy: a production that respects his traditional style. The grapes are still stomped in the old press, after a two-day maceration, and the pressings yield less than 50% of the weight of the unpressed grapes – as many as three harvests are required to make a thousand bottles – which explains just about everything about it. It is a perfume made from grapes, sweet, flavorful, long, with certain bitter hints, and undertones of dried peaches with their typical sweet-sour flavor.
Its dancing partner
Wonderful with homemade butter cookies and almonds from La Palma.
Trivia
An artwork inside and out. Vicky’s hand and taste, and her effort to rescue traditions, include unique labels using tracing paper and traditional embroidery in a collection she has called “Minúsculas” (‘lowercase’). The bonus of a lovely human project.
