What this wine tells us
Not very well known, but it is another highly original idea of the winery to promote the grape, the area, and the variety. A unique wine, the result of the proper use of the climatic conditions of the area, that communicates the poor, volcanic terrain whose cultivation is the result of immeasurable human effort. Not excessively aromatic, but it shows very interesting spiced notes (but no oak) with ripe plum and licorice undertones. On the palate, it is like a Port wine, but the alcohol is better integrated because it comes completely from its own fermentation. Good acidity and some tannin that can always be polished.
Its dancing partner
Magnificent with a “Príncipe Alberto” (dark chocolate layer cake).
We couldn’t find a similar wine that was made 100% with this variety. We like how they explain the ideal ripeness of the bunches: “They are perfect when they have a toasted color and the individual grapes start to burst.”
