What this wine tells us
A very surprising wine that we were lucky enough to try (the 2000 vintage). Like other Felipe Monje wines, it is a product that should be sampled with an open mind, because it will go beyond what you expect. In this case, he decided to make wines to be stored more or less in 1993, at a time when the average wine was produced in the same year, and sold it for 3,500 pesetas (the 2000 is priced at 135 Euros at the moment). A very trendy craze. The wine is beloved, and makes you fall in love with its delicacy, with a low-intensity color but unbroken and perfectly maintained. The fruit notes are secondary and herbs, tea, and subtle honey rise to the fore. The tannins are perfectly tamed, the acidity adjusted, and the finish more than elegant. A great pleasure!
Its dancing partner
Having it with anything would be a crime, by itself it’s best.
There are only about 200 bottles left, at a price that is apparently unattainable in the local market, but in the United States it is being purchased and valued. Thanks to the labels by artists from the Canary Islands of international reputation, a work of art inside and out.
