■ El Níspero albillo
Dry white from 100% Albillo Criollo grapes
DO La Palma
What this wine tells us
Another wine that is closely related to the history of wine on the Canary Islands, as well as the quality whites from the island. Wrapped in a mystique of scarcity and legend, this brand’s product is superior to any other and El Níspero is a synonym for quality. It shows the most tropical side of the Albillo, with a lot of aromatic intensity, reminiscent of tropical fruit, citrus, and ultimately some white fruit. On the palate it is fresh, full of lively acidity, saline, and has a fresh vegetal core. Its aromas are reflected in its finish.
Its dancing partner
A must with a fresh cheese with quince jelly.
Trivia
This was the first white 100% Albillo Criollo that was bottled and labeled on the Canary Islands, in 1999. The first year there were only 600 liters, grown on an original plot called “Burro Macho.”
