EL GRIFO WINERY
El Grifo Reserva Familiar
Red from Syrah grape, aged one year in barrel and one year in bottle
Lanzarote Protected Designation of Origin

What this wine tells us
Without a doubt, this is one of the great red wines that is manufactured in the Canary Islands. It might mark the start of a new era of reds from Lanzarote. Its color is intense, brilliant, dark and lively. The nose stresses hints of good and fresh wood (French oak barrels) in 500-liter containers so it will not be woody, together with dark ripe fruit, licorice and floral background. This mouthfilling wine does not leave you indifferent. A powerful, but yet elegant wine.

Its dancing partner
It is a must with black Canary pork.

Trivia
The winery’s commitment to the Syrah grape is showing fantastic results. Their oldest plants of this variety, with an average of 10 years, came from an experimental estate in which different grapes were tested and this one was the one that best acclimatized to the so-called rofe ¬– volcanic ash in Lanzarote. Unquestionably, one of the best Syrahs from Southern Europe.
