■ El Grifo Ariana
Red from Listán negro and Syrah grapes (50%-50%), aged four months in barrel
Lanzarote Protected Designation of Origin
What this wine tells us
Its intense and lively color with an almost burgundy tonality is surprising. Very nice. The nose gives off minerality and has its own features. It is ripe and sweet, with suggestions of ripe plum accompanied by notes of licorice, cacao and wood spices. It reaffirms its elegance on the palate, very round and balanced. A wine with a long aftertaste that is pleasant to drink because of its freshness and finesse.
Its dancing partner
It is a must with lentil stew from Lanzarote.
Another example of a good red from one of the Canary Islands which is known for its quality whites, but where sorting the grape Listán negro adequately, accompanied by the well adapted syrah has the potential to stand out and to be taken into account.
